001 | How The Stat Began

I didn’t start with a camera—I started with an obsession. Light. Silence. Coastal roads. That feeling you get at golden hour when everything slows down. That was the spark. The Stat wasn’t planned, it just grew from the images that started meaning something.

I was shooting Glenelg, just a quiet solo walk, and snapped a frame that felt different. It had mood. Soul. I didn’t have a name for it yet, but I knew I wanted more of that. What followed was a dive into long exposure, nighttime, early mornings, storms, venturing to different places, embracing nature. I taught myself Lightroom. I studied color. I started chasing the cinematic in the everyday.

“The Stat” came from wanting something stripped-back, a nickname given to me earlier in life. I didn’t want to name my work after myself—I wanted it to feel like its own world. The Stat is the moment before something happens. The breath before the shutter. The stillness in chaos.

Now it’s prints, presets, reels, blog posts—and still that quiet obsession with light. I’m based in Adelaide, but I’m building this to reach anywhere light touches. If you’re new here, welcome. This blog will go behind the work—where it was shot, how it was edited, and why it mattered.

Thanks for being here. Let’s build this one story at a time
